How do I check my mail from a website?
This depends on what package you have. If you are on a Linux package you can check mail from http://webmail.visualhosting.co.za; if you are on a Unix or Windows package you can check your mail at http://mail.yourdomain.com.

Do your servers support the .net frame work (2 or 1)?
We support .net 1 - we tried using version 2 and 1 at the same time but this caused some clashes and we hadto stick with version 1 simply because it is still more popular.
What is the Mono-Project?
ASP.NET is a Microsoft language and is therefore only supported on our Windows server. We are aware of the The Mono Project and are still looking into it before implementing it onto our servers.
The Mono Project is an open development initiative sponsored by Novell to develop an open source, UNIX version of the Microsoft .NET development platform. Its objective is to enable UNIX developers to build and deploy cross-platform .NET Applications. The project implements various technologies developed by Microsoft that have now been submitted to the ECMA for standardization - http://mono-project.com
What is a domain name?
Like a telephone number, a domain name is a unique identifier that points to a certain site on the world wide web. Each computer on the internet has a unique numeric Internet Protocol address such as 131.215.3.29. These numbers are not user-friendly and give no indication as to what this address contains. A domain name is not only a lot easier to remember, but could also indicate what information a website contains. It is easier to remember old-books.co.za than 121.202.7.23. Furthermore, if you are a collector of old books, it gives you have a fair idea that this site will contain information that you might find interesting.
Typically, domain names operate like telephone dialling codes in reverse. The first portion of the name points to a specific site, the second points to the broad category the site falls under, and the third portion is the country code where the site is registered. For example, visualtours.co.za refers to Visual Tours website registered in South Africa.
In all countries there are Domain Name Servers (DNS), i.e. computers that will take the domain name and look up the relevant Internet Protocol (IP) Address and feed this address back to your computer so that it can connect with the site you wish to visit. What is AWStats?
AWStats is a free web analytics tool, which can be available both in Unix and Windows hosted accounts. It generates web, ftp or mail server statistics into graphical web pages. AWStats statistics for your domain is available in your browser at http://domain-name/cgi-bin/awstats.pl
AWStats has a separate configuration file for each serviced domain. You can find this file in your home directory /cgi-bin/awstats..conf. To protect your AWStats reports from unauthorized access, you need to configure access rules for /cgi-bin/awstats.pl in the .htaccess file as suggested in AWStats Security Tips.
What is Urchin4 and why does it cost an extra R35?
Urchin 4 is a very specialized Stats program to view the statistics of your website, it costs an extra R35 simply because you need a license from Urchin to use there software. However you do not need to take this at all, it is just an option and we do provide another stats programs which come free with the package. AWStats is a reliable and great Stats tool and more than enough for most users. We only recommend Urchin4 if you are going to be doing some intense stuff.
Do you have SMS capability for your servers?
Sms capability is fine - you can purcahse sms's from Advernet.co.za or Clickatell.com - they are one of the cheaper and reliable companies we've found. You`ll get a function that you can use in your code which will obviously sms.
Do you provide a SSL Facility?
We do provide an SSL Facility - This will cost extra.
How do you people classify bandwidth?
Bandwidth is The amount of information or data that can be sent over a network connection in a given period of time. So if your domain has 20 gb of bandwidth
a month - then FTPing- ppl visiting- uploading and d/l all add up.
What type of backup do you provide
We backup on a daily and weekly basis. We basically create an img of the hard drive everyday and everyweek. You will be able to retrieve upto a week of information should something go wrong.
Can I install .net Nuke on the box?
Yes we can put on .net nuke, although because of the high resources of a .net nuke busy website - it is recommended to goto a dedicated server.
