By: MyAdsl
The long awaited ICASA ADSL hearings will take place on the 15th and 16th of May at the ICASA offices in Pinmill Farm, Sandton.
The notice of the public hearings was published in the Government Gazette No. 28811 on 8 May 2006.
Councilor Mamodupi Mohlala will once again chair the hearings, with Councilor Bulbia, Mr. Kgamedi, Mr. Ngxingo, Mr. Railo, Mr. Ruplal, Mr. Thlabi, Mr. Thoobe, Mr, Daki and Mr. Malebusha sitting on the panel.
Speakers from Telkom, Internet Solutions, Transtel, Sentech, MWeb, ISPA, ISOC, Vodacom and MyADSL will once again present their case before the panel. There will also be presentations by three independent ADSL users.
With such a variety of speakers the hearings are certain to produce an interesting debate. With most companies using this opportunity to ensure that they will benefit from the new ADSL regulations, it will be interesting to see where each of the providers’ stand.
In their written submissions most providers called for the new regulations to address problems in the wholesale and retail ADSL market and to create a more open and competitive broadband environment.
These hearing are open to the public and the full program is available on MyDrive ( http://www.mydrive.co.za/ ) . Any enquiries can be directed at Mr. Obakeng Thlabi othlabi@icasa.org.za
