IMAGE HOSTING

IMAGE UPLOADING

Image Uploader is specially designed to upload images. First of all, when users navigate files, they see image previews. Image Uploader can generate thumbnails (up to 3) and upload them along with files. It also enables the user to rotate the image. Furthermore, it supports all the main image file formats including JPEG, TIFF, GIF, PNG, BMP, etc. It is therefore an ideal solution for websites that provide the following kind of services (only a few examples):
1. Online photo hosting 2. Online print order 3. Photo blogs 4. Maintaining a database which contains images, e.g. for: • Automobile industry (photos of vehicles) • Real estate industry (photos of properties, etc.) • Health care industry (patient photos, X-ray images, etc.)
FILE UPLOADING

Image Uploader also supports the uploading of other kinds of files, e.g. PDF documents or ZIP archives. Image Uploader enables you to specify file filtering rules and hide certain kinds of files. For example, you can hide all files except DOC, PDF, and TXT. You can therefore use Image Uploader for the following:
1. Content management systems 2. File catalogs 3. File sharing systems 4. Any other kind of sites that requires uploading
CROSS-PLATFORM COMPATIBLE SOLUTION

Image Uploader is a cross-browser compatible solution and it is very accessible for users at different platforms. It consists of two pieces of software: an ActiveX control and a Java applet. When the user loads Image Uploader with Internet Explorer at Windows, an ActiveX version of Image Uploader is loaded. When ActiveX cannot be used (e.g. the user has another browser or another operating system), a Java version is loaded. This approach has the following advantages:
1. The main majority of users (Internet Explorer/Windows) do not need any additional software installed to get Image Uploader working.
2. Most users at alternative platforms (Mac OS, Linux) already have Sun Java runtime installed, so they can use the Java version of Image Uploader without installing additional software too.
3. Those Windows users who make use of Mozilla, Opera, and other alternative browsers, need to install Java runtime.
